On February 13, 2021 at 11:24p.m., the Saskatoon Police Service received a call to the 3500blk of 8th St E regarding a possible impaired driver.
Patrol officers attending to the call were travelling east bound and observed an Oldmobile Alero travelling at a high rate of speed west bound in the 3300blk of 8th St E. The driver of the vehicle then collided with a Ford Fusion in the 3100blk of 8th St E. Officers arrived at the scene of the collision just as the suspect vehicle continued driving away. The arriving officers went to the aid of the driver as it was unknown if there were any injuries. The 28 year old male driver was not injured and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene.
Additional officers on 8th St E then observed the suspect vehicle collide with a Toyota Echo in the 1800blk 8th St E. A 62 year old male driver of the Toyota Echo was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated from the vehicle with the assistance of the Saskatoon Fire Department. The driver was treated at the scene by Medavie Health Services with minor injuries and did not require further medical treatment. Both vehicles had substantial damage and were towed from the scene.
A 21 year old male was arrested for impaired driving and dangerous driving.
