The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery, which took place on Tuesday evening.
On April 12th, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m., police received the report of robbery in the 600 block of 22nd Street West. The caller said a man had approached him, pulled a rifle out of a backpack and threatened him for his wallet and phone. The suspect took the items and then fled.
When officers arrived they were able to successfully track the suspect, with the assistance of the SPS Canine Unit, to a garage in the 200 block of Avenue L North. A 40-year-old man was taken safely into custody. The stolen phone was also able to be tracked and the backpack was also located. Inside the backpack officers located a rifle, a loaded rifle magazine, a cell phone, two knives and additional ammunition.
The 40-year-old man is charged with Armed Robbery, Pointing a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Break and Enter, Obstruction and several other firearm and breach of conditions related charges.
