A man is facing charges after police received several reports from concerned citizens about a man with a firearm last night.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m., May 1, 2022, SPS communications received several reports about a man with a firearm in the area of 22nd Street and Betts Avenue. Officers responded and located a man who was uncooperative with police and brandishing a firearm in a manner that was threatening to himself. Traffic restrictions were put in place as officers attempted to deescalate the situation. After approximately an hour, the man continued to disobey officers commands resulting in the deployment of less lethal options and was taken into custody.
Upon arrest, police seized a handgun and bear mace.
The 42-year-old man is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (x2), Using Firearm in Commission of Offence, Careless Use of Firearm, Carrying Concealed Weapon, Possession of Unauthorized Firearm, Prohibited Possession, and Mischief. (Court Info # 991195304).
