As we approach the first long weekend of the summer driving season, the Saskatoon Police Service's Traffic Unit is reminding motorists that the likelihood of being involved in a collision doubles on long weekends.
May 17 - 23, 2022 is Canada Road Safety Week and this year’s theme, “Safer You, Safer Me”, aims to remind us all that our actions behind the wheel impact every other road user.
In addition to enhanced traffic safety themed communication and enforcement, the Traffic Unit will be working with law enforcement from across the province on Wednesday and Thursday of this week as part of the Saskatchewan Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). Officers from various agencies will converge on the Saskatoon area to conduct sobriety checkpoints and other traffic safety initiatives on those days.
Members of the public and media can follow the Traffic Unit on Twitter, @SPSTraffic, for ongoing information and updates about STEP.
