May 18, 2022 marks 60 years since 23 year old Alexandra Wiwcharuk was last seen leaving her home in City Park, stopping into a drugstore and then walking near the river. Thirteen days later, on May 31st, Alexandra's remains were found along the riverbank near the location she was last seen. She had a fractured skull and had been sexually assaulted and buried. Her official cause of death was suffocation.
A massive effort began as Saskatoon Police investigated her murder. Over the years countless leads have been followed and hundreds of people have been interviewed. Throughout that time, investigators have utilized new technology including DNA testing, as it became available. Today, the investigation remains active and investigators remain in contact with Alexandra's family.
