Two men were arrested following an armed robbery and subsequent canine track of evidence left behind.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. on May 24, 2022, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a residence located in the 1200 block of Avenue O South. Through investigation it was learned that multiple people entered the residence carrying knives and fled with property belonging to the victims.
A canine track led police throughout the neighbourhood, locating discarded stolen property along the way. While the track was ongoing, officers at the scene obtained video evidence from a nearby camera offering descriptions of the suspects. The GPS location of a cell phone stolen from the residence led police to the 1400 block of Avenue M South; the same area that the police service dog was tracking towards. While attending to the area, officers observed two men matching the descriptions of the suspects exiting an apartment building. They were arrested without incident. Property believed to be stolen from the victims was located on their person and in an apartment unit within the building.
