One man has been charged with assaulting a police officer following a domestic disturbance.
At approximately 2:15 a.m. on June 3, 2022, police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 700 block of 33rd Street West. It was reported that a man under the influence of an intoxicant was assaulting a woman. Upon police arrival, attempts to deescalate the situation were made; however, the man refused to reason with police. While attempting to take the man into custody he became combative at which time an officer discharged their conducted energy weapon (CEW) to effect the arrest. There were no serious injuries to the victim, officers, or suspect as a result of this occurrence.
The 52-year-old man was charged with assaulting a police officer in addition to being wanted on several outstanding warrants.
The deployment of the CEW will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
