Two women were arrested following a failed attempt to evade the Air Support Unit on Monday.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on July 11, 2022, officers observed a vehicle of interest to an earlier evade police incident now travelling on 22nd Street West in the area of Avenue H. Upon approach of the police vehicle, the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed; officers on the ground immediately disengaged from the evade police incident and relayed a description and direction of travel to those in the air. The Air Support Unit observed the suspect vehicle travelling throughout the city in a dangerous manner before entering an underground parking garage in the 200 block of 5th Avenue North. Officers in the air relayed this detail back to those on the ground where the suspect vehicle was reengaged and its occupants were arrested without further incident.
The vehicle was later confirmed to be stolen; two license plates that were found with it, one from British Columbia and one from Saskatchewan, did not belong and are also believed to have been stolen from vehicles of a similar make and model. A can of bear spray, bladed weapon, and beverage alcohol was also seized as a result of investigation.
A 26-year-old Saskatoon woman was arrested and charged with theft over $5000, operating a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public, and operating a motor vehicle being pursued by police.
A 29-year-old Saskatoon woman was found to be at large on a release order; failing to comply with court imposed conditions.
