Members of the Major Crime, Serious Assault and Forensic Identification Sections are investigating reports of an altercation that occurred in the 400 block of Avenue Q South involving bear spray.

At approximately 2:09am on September 4, 2022 Police received the initial report of someone being bear sprayed in the 400 block of Ave Q South.

Upon arrival, responding officers located a 39 year old male who was badly injured. The male was transported to Royal University Hospital by Medavie Health Services where the male died. A 25 year old male has been charged with manslaughter and will see a Justice of the Peace this evening.

It is unclear if the two individuals were known to each other.
