The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Regina man with Luring a Child and Breach of Undertaking. A search warrant was executed at his residence on Friday September 16th where electronic devices were located for further examination. The male is alleged to have posted numerous signs in the Regina area offering to trade hockey and Pokémon cards. The victim in this case had responded to one of the accused male’s ads.

Members of the ICE Unit believe there may be additional victims. They are encouraged to contact their local police service and make a report. Police are also cautioning the public to be vigilant when responding to advertisements. Parents are asked to discuss safety precautions with their children.

Luring 172.1(1)(a) - Criminal Code of Canada

Breach undertaking 145(4)(a) – Criminal Code of Canada

Babey was held in custody and made his first court appearance in Regina Provincial Court this morning.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
