A 33-year-old man is in custody following an incident on December 1, 2022 at approximately 10:50pm that resulted in Police deploying a conducted energy weapon (CEW).

Officers were assisting Corman Park Police west of Marquis Drive and Highway 16 with arresting a suspect in a stolen truck. Police located the vehicle stuck in a field, but despite commands given by police, the suspect refused to comply and exit the vehicle. As officers approached to arrest the suspect, the truck began to gain traction posing a risk to the officers as the suspect attempted to escape. A CEW was deployed and the suspect was safely taken into custody without further incident.

This incident will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
