A 27 year old man is facing a number of charges following an arrest by members of the SPS Guns and Gangs Unit.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., December 20, 2022, officers observed a male who was wanted on outstanding warrants at a residence on 33rd Street West. The male was leaving the address in a taxi. The vehicle was followed to the 100 block of 25th Street West where the suspect was confronted by officers as he exited the taxi and fled on foot. He was brought into custody nearby. A Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was deployed during the arrest but did not have effect. A search of the bag carried by the suspect resulted in officers located a sawed-off shotgun.

The male is now facing six firearm related charges and was wanted on outstanding warrants from the SPS and the RCMP.
