A 50 year old female is in custody this evening following an incident that resulted in Police deploying a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW).

At 8:48 p.m., on December 27, 2022, officers were called to a residence in the 1300 block of Richardson road for a woman in a vulnerable state. When police arrived they found the female armed with a knife threatening to harm herself. When officers were unable to de-escalate the situation verbally, a CEW was deployed and the female was taken safely into custody.

Medical attention was provided to the female at scene and she was then transported to the hospital for assessment under the Mental Health Services Act.

The incident will be reviewed in accordance with Saskatoon Police policy.
