New Year's Eve Sobriety Checkstops

This New Year's Eve, the Saskatoon Police Service will be teaming up with law enforcement partners from several other agencies, to conduct sobriety checkstops. This will be a continuation of a month long effort to deter impaired driving, and to apprehend drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Motorists are reminded that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs can result in serious sanctions, including criminal charges, immediate roadside suspensions, and vehicle impoundments. If motorists encounter a checkstop, they are asked to slow down and look for directions given by a police officer. The SPS encourages anyone who needs to travel after consuming alcohol or drugs, to use one of many alternate services available. This can include public transit, ride share companies, taxis and designated driver services.

The Saskatoon Police Service would like to wish everyone a safe, healthy, and happy New Year's Eve. Let’s keep our roads, and community safe, heading into 2023.
