The Saskatoon Police Service Serious Assault Unit has arrested a man, in connection to an aggravated assault that occurred over the weekend.
On February 13th, 2022, police received a report of a 24-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound in the 200 block of Avenue O South. The victim was transported to hospital, where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries, while a 27-year-old man fled the scene. The suspect and victim are known to each other.
Continued investigation by the SPS Guns & Gangs Unit resulted in the execution of a search warrant by the Tactical Support Unit at a residence in the 600 block of Avenue X South at approximately 7:15 p.m., February 15, 2022. The 27-year-old man left the residence and was arrested without further incident. A search of the residence recovered a firearm and ammunition. He is charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited.
During the investigation, officers observed a vehicle that drove up to the front doors of the residence. Police arrested two people and a subsequent search recovered more firearms and ammunition.
As a result, a 19-year-old man faces 11 firearms related charges and was charged with Breach of Conditions. A 37-year-old woman was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Gabepentin).
