The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested a 17-year-old male after a dangerous driving incident this morning.
On January 5, 2023, at around 1:00 a.m., police attempted to stop a vehicle, in a parking lot at 22nd Street West and Avenue W North. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day. The vehicle fled westbound on 22nd Street, and pursuit was called off momentarily. Patrol officers found the vehicle a short time later, stuck in snow, and abandoned in an alley-way in the 100 block of Tache Crescent. A 17-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl were taken into custody without further incident, a short distance from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle recovered a baton, axe, and brass knuckle type weapon.
While in custody, officers learned the 17-year-old boy may have consumed an intoxicant prior to being arrested. Shortly after being taken into custody he became unresponsive and life saving measures, including the use of Naloxone, were administered. Medavie Health Services were called to assess him and he was transferred to hospital in stable condition.
The 17-year-old male is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evading Police, Obstruction, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (x3), and Breach of Conditions.
