One woman was arrested after attempting to flee from police in a stolen vehicle early this morning.
On March 2, 2023 at around 3:00 a.m., police observed a suspicious vehicle travelling in the area of Avenue H North and 32nd Street West. After confirming that the vehicle was stolen, a traffic stop was attempted; the vehicle did not stop for police and accelerated away at a high rate of speed. Officers on the ground disengaged from the evade police incident while those in the air continued to monitor the suspect vehicle’s movements to the 1000 block of Avenue J North where it was abandoned. Members of the Air Support Unit were successful in guiding officers on the ground to the suspect’s location in a nearby backyard.
The 35-year-old Gallivan, Saskatchewan woman was arrested without incident and is facing charges relating to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle being pursued by police, possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000, and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.
