The Saskatoon Police Service has made an arrest in connection to a stolen vehicle investigation.
On March 14, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., patrol officers located a vehicle, in the 100 block of 32nd Street West, with a license plate that had been reported stolen. As officers approached the vehicle they found two people inside. One of the occupants was taken into custody without further incident and released without charges. The other occupant, a 37-year-old man, attempted to flee, but was arrested shortly after. After his arrest, the suspect provided a false name to officers, was found to be in possession of identity documents belonging to someone else and the vehicle was also confirmed to be stolen.
During this incident, southbound lanes on Idylwyld Drive North were temporarily restricted, as police investigated the area. Restrictions were lifted a short time later.
The 37-year-old man faces charges of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Possession of Stolen Property (x2), Possession of Identity Documents Relating to Another Person (x2), and Obstruction.
