A 37-year-old man has been charged with Assaulting a Police Officer (x2), Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer, and Obstruction.
A 29-year-old man, the original subject of arrest, was charged with Breach of Conditions.
The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested a man after a conducted energy weapon (CEW) was deployed this afternoon.
On April 4, 2023, at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers were attempting to arrest a man in the 400 block of Fairmont Drive. As this was happening, a 37-year-old man approached and physically confronted the officers. A struggle ensued, which saw the 37-year-old man assault two officers and attempt to disarm one. As a result, a CEW was successfully deployed and he was taken into custody.
Charges are currently pending and the deployment of the CEW will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
