Saskatoon Police have charged a man with arson following a grass fire over the weekend.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., April 29, 2023, Patrol officers responded to a fire in the 2600 block of St. Henry Avenue. Police located a large grass fire in Diefenbaker Park spreading to the train tracks. A witness had observed two male suspects walking away from the fire, which officers quickly located and spoke to. One of the males was taken into custody without incident. A bottle of liquor and a lighter was found on his person. Property damage from the fire was believed to be extensive.

A 45-year-old man has been charged with Arson. He is expected to make his first court appearance on June 6, 2023.
