A Saskatoon motorist was arrested for impaired driving and assaulting a police officer yesterday.

On May 28, 2023 at around 9:00 p.m., police received a call reporting a suspected impaired driver in the area of Laurier Drive and Circle Drive. Members of the Air Support Unit quickly located the vehicle of interest and began monitoring its movements. From the air, it was observed being operated in an inconsistent and dangerous manner before stopping in the area of 22nd Street West and Avenue Y South. Attending officers initiated a traffic stop to begin an impaired driving investigation; however, the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle refused to comply with police and attempted to flee the scene. Following a struggle with officers, the 34-year-old woman was taken into custody. While being processed in Detention, she spit in the face of a Special Constable.

As a result, she has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to comply with a breath demand, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer (x2).
