Two people are facing numerous firearms and weapons-related charges following an incident early this morning.
At approximately 1:00 a.m., July 10th, 2023, Patrol officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 800 block Idylwyld Drive North. The complainant stated that they had been driving and were being followed by a vehicle that was attempting to get them to pull over, with the suspect pointing a gun at them.
Upon arrival, officers observed an empty truck parked at the entrance with the doors left open. The complainants, who had gone inside the hotel, told officers that a truck had been following them in the area of Circle Drive and Idylwyld Drive. They said the driver, who was unknown to them, was yelling at them to pull over, stating the truck they were driving was stolen. When the victims didn’t comply, a suspect passenger reportedly pointed a sawed-off shotgun at them.
Patrol members located the suspect vehicle in a parking lot of a bar in the 2200 block of 22nd Street West. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted and four individuals were arrested, with two later being released. Inside the vehicle, a partially-disassembled shotgun was located along with numerous rounds of ammunition. A pickaxe was also located inside of a backpack in the vehicle.
Two men, ages 29 and 26, are facing a combined 14 firearms/weapons-related offences. They are also each charged with Assault with a Weapon.
