Four people were arrested Friday night following a high-risk, evade Police incident.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., July 14, 2023, Patrol officers observed a stolen, spray-painted black Jeep Cherokee at Diefenbaker Drive and 22nd Street West. A traffic stop was attempted in a parking lot in the 200 block of Fairmont Drive, but the suspect driver fled at a high-rate of speed. Police observed the suspect vehicle exit the city, southbound on Highway 219. Officers deployed tire deflation devices on the highway, however the suspects avoided the devices and instead veered towards the officers standing nearby in a ditch, but did not make contact with the officers. The suspect vehicle then sideswiped a Police SUV as it returned to the highway. Due to the erratic driving and refusal of the suspect vehicle to stop, officers immobilized the vehicle by contacting it with a Police SUV. No one was injured during the incident.
The four occupants of the vehicle, two women and two men, exited and were arrested without further incident. Both of the male suspects were taken to hospital as a precaution but later returned to SPS Detention. They were both wanted on outstanding warrants.
The 26-year-old female driver was charged with Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Assault with a Weapon (x3) and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000. She was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Two 36-year-old passengers and one 45-year-old, were all charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.
