Members of the Saskatoon Police Service and the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a man in a tree last week.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., July 21, 2023, emergency crews arrived in the 900 block of Avenue S North where they saw the male approximately 70 feet up the tree. He appeared to be in emotional distress. An SPS officer accompanied by a member of the SFD utilized a ladder truck to reach the same height and engage with the man. A short time later a member of the SPS Crisis Negotiation Team arrived and was able to successfully convince the man to come down in the ladder truck's bucket. The incident's duration was approximately 2 hours in length. The 50 year old male was medically assessed at the scene and transported into his family's care.
