A man has been arrested after robbing the same business twice in one day.
On July 26, 2023 at around 4:00 a.m., police were called to a business in the 200 block of Pendygrasse Road for a report of an armed robbery that had occurred approximately 30 minutes prior. The suspect had stolen cigarettes and fled the area before officers arrived.
Then, at around 12:20 p.m. the same day, police received a report of a masked male committing an armed robbery at the same business. Again, the suspect stole cigarettes and fled the area prior to police arrival; he was observed by witnesses to be changing his clothing while fleeing. A search by members of the Canine Unit and Patrol led to locating the male suspect in the area of Clancy Drive and Fairmont Drive; he was arrested without further incident. A firearm was not located and, following investigation, may not have been used in the robberies.
The 35-year-old man is believed to be responsible for both robberies and, as a result, is facing charges relating to robbery and disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence. Outstanding warrants were also executed upon his arrest.
