A search warrant was executed early this morning following a firearms investigation by Saskatoon Police.
Shortly before 2:00 a.m., August 7, 2023, patrol officers observed a man with a shotgun entering a vehicle as a passenger in the 200 block of Avenue W South. Officers attempted a traffic stop however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was later confirmed to have been reported stolen.
Later the same date, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the vehicle was located again by patrol officers, this time unoccupied, in the 1000 block of Taylor Street East. Through investigation, police believed the occupants had attended to a residence in the 200 block of 1st Street East. When police arrived, officers observed a man with what was believed to be a rifle.
With the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, a search warrant was executed by the Guns & Gangs Unit and a man was taken into custody.
As a result of the search warrant, police located a crossbow frame. The individual that had been taken into custody, was released without charges.
