One individual has been arrested after they confronted and assaulted a police officer yesterday.

At around 12:55 p.m. on August 23, 2023, a member of the Bike Unit was responding to a call for service in the 100 block of Avenue D North when they were approached by a verbally and physically irate person in the area of Avenue D and 22nd Street West. As the person continued towards the officer in an aggressive manner, a struggle began causing the police bike to fall to the ground and the officer to suffer a minor injury. This person was not involved in the initial call for service that the officer was responding to.

As a result, the 38-year-old individual has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
