A woman is facing charges after she deployed bear spray last night while attempting to flee from a theft.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., October 26, 2023, patrol officers responded to a report that several people were suffering from the effects of bear spray after it was deployed inside a shopping centre in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South. Further investigation determined that an individual had been approached by security after attempting to take items without paying and deployed bear spray in an attempt to flee.

A 31-year-old woman is charged with Assault with a Weapon (x3), Robbery, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. (Court Info # 991248419)
