One man is in custody after a an armed robbery on Monday.

On November 13, 2023, at around 7:30 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 1100 block of Northumberland Avenue, for the report that a woman had been assaulted, threatened and robbed with a firearm. The victim had reportedly been outside the residence in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers were able to locate the victim and were able to confirm the suspect was inside the residence. The SPS Tactical Support Unit attended and officers were able to convince numerous people to safely exit the building, without further incident. This included the 38-year-old male suspect, who was then arrested. The victim was treated at the scene for what are believed to be minor injuries, by Medavie Health Services. The suspect and victim are believed to be known to one another.

A search warrant was subsequently granted and executed on the residence, where multiple firearms including a sawed-off rifle, sawed-off shotgun and a homemade zip gun were found.

The 38-year-old man is charged with Armed Robbery, Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence, Pointing a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Uttering Threats to Cause Death.
