A police officer was assaulted in SPS Detention on Saturday evening.

At around 8:30 p.m., on November 11, 2023, a 31-year-old man was present in front of a Justice of the Peace in SPS detention, regarding unrelated charges. While this was occurring, the man attempted to leave the room he was in while aggressively advancing towards and intentionally striking a Constable in the face, causing minor injury.

As a result, the 31-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
