One man has been arrested following a collision this morning.
Shortly before 7:00 a.m., police were called to the area of 29th Street West and Avenue H North for a report of a collision. Upon arrival, two heavily damaged vehicles, an SUV and a truck, were observed. Preliminary investigation found that the truck had been travelling northbound on Avenue H North when it was struck at a high rate of speed by the westbound SUV that failed to stop at a stop sign; the SUV then narrowly missed colliding with a parked vehicle and a house before coming to a stop on a nearby front lawn. The driver of the truck was assessed by paramedics before being medically released. The driver of the SUV had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Continued investigation found that the driver of the SUV was displaying signs consistent with impairment. He was placed under arrest before being transported to hospital by paramedics where a blood demand was then made.
As a result, the 19-year-old Alberta man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and impaired driving.
