One man was arrested with the assistance of a police service dog (PSD) last night after he was reported to be in possession of a weapon.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. on December 10, 2023, police were called to the 100 block of Confederation Drive for a report of a man armed with a hatchet and damaging property. A member of the Canine Unit observed a man matching the suspect’s description near 22nd Street West and Confederation Drive. Upon receiving police commands to stop, the man began to run away; a PSD was then used in successfully apprehending the suspect without further incident. He was found to be in possession of a hatchet and a knife.
As a result, the 28-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with mischief under $5000, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, and unlawful carry of a concealed weapon.
