A man is facing charges after threatening a passerby with a knife on Saturday night.
At approximately 11:50 p.m., December 16, 2023, patrol officers responded to the Broadway Bridge after it was reported that a man, who appeared to be in distress, brandished a knife at a passerby when asked if he was okay. When police arrived, the man refused to follow police commands. When it appeared he was about to jump over the bridge railing, a police officer successfully deployed their conducted energy weapon and the man was safely taken into custody. He was found to have two large knives in his pocket and is believed to have been under the influence of an intoxicant.
The 27-year-old man is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (x2), Carrying Concealed Weapon (x2), Assault with a Weapon, and breach of court-imposed conditions. He was also found to have warrants for his arrest. (Court Info # 991253448).
