Two people have been arrested following a firearms investigation by the Guns and Gangs Unit with assistance from the Air Support Unit, Tactical Support Unit, and Crime Reduction Team.
At around 6:45 p.m. on December 20, 2023, police took enforcement action on a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Primrose Drive occupied by a man wanted on several criminal code warrants and believed to be in possession of a firearm. As a result, both the 36-year-old man and his 23-year-old female passenger were arrested without incident. Upon search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded 9mm handgun and ammunition.
Both the man and woman have been charged with several firearms-related offences as a result. The man was also arrested on 23 outstanding charges from multiple criminal code warrants, including; 3x unauthorized possession of a firearm, 3x possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, impaired driving, and drug trafficking, among others. The woman was also found to be in breach of her probation.
