The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested a man in connection to a dangerous driving incident on Thursday.
On February 23, 2023, at around 4:30 p.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen, near the intersection of Avenue P South and 17th Street West. The vehicle then fled from police at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was quickly found a short distance away, having caused damage to several vehicles near the intersection of 11th Street West and Avenue P South, before crashing into a tree on the southeast corner. The driver had fled from the scene, but witnesses pointed officers in the direction of the 1300 block of Avenue O South, where he was arrested without further incident. Upon being searched, officers found two knives on the suspect, one that was spring loaded.
A 26-year-old man faces charges of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Dangerous Driving, Failure to Stop After an Accident, Evade Police, Possession of Stolen Property over $5000, and Breach of Conditions.
