On April 24, 2024 at approximately 10:55 p.m., police responded to report of a male who had been assaulted near a gas station in the 300 block of Confederation Drive. The 42-year-old male victim was transported to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Through investigation, a group of 5 people were identified as having stolen a fire extinguisher from a business in the area and were using it to spray people as they walked. The victim tried to intervene, at which point the assault occurred.

The suspects left the scene prior to police arrival. They were last seen heading northbound on Confederation Drive near Laurier Drive, and have not been identified.
