Renewed Request For Public Assistance - Historical Homicide - Alexandra Wiwcharuk

Following many years of continued investigation, the Saskatoon Police Service is again renewing its request for public assistance in the historical homicide of then 23-year-old Alexandra Wiwcharuk.

It has been 62 years since Alexandra Wiwcharuk was last seen leaving her home in City Park before stopping at a nearby drug store and taking a walk by the river. Thirteen days later, on May 31st, Alexandra’s remains were found along the riverbank near where she was last seen; her skull was fractured and she had been sexually assaulted before being buried. Alexandra’s official cause of death was suffocation.

An expansive effort began as police investigated her murder; following countless leads and interviewing hundreds of people. Throughout the years, investigators have used new technology, including DNA testing, as it became available. To date, Alexandra’s murder remains unsolved.

The investigation into this historical homicide remains open and investigators maintain contact with Alexandra’s family. Investigators believe members of the public may have information helpful in solving the case.
