Three individuals have been charged following a firearms event yesterday.

At around 11:50 a.m. on May 23, 2024, police were dispatched to the 600 block of Avenue X South after reports were received of a male brandishing a firearm. Arriving officers spoke with a witness who described the suspect and informed them that he was last seen entering an apartment building nearby. A search of the building led police to locating both the suspect and a sawed-off shotgun. While officers were conducting the search, a second male attempted to flee the building but was quickly apprehended; a search of his person found him to be in possession of fentanyl.

As a result, a 30-year-old man has been charged with multiple firearms related offences. A 31-year-old male was charged with possession of a controlled substance, breaching probation orders, and was wanted on multiple warrants. A 21-year-old female that police encountered during the firearms investigation was also found breaching her release order.
