One man was arrested in relation to two attempted robberies Wednesday night.
On June 5, 2024 at approximately 8:00 p.m. police responded to reports of an attempted robbery at a business in the 1100 Block of 22nd Street West. It was reported that a man had entered a store armed with a baseball bat asking for money. Upon police arrival, the suspect had fled the scene; however, members of Patrol were able to obtain a photo of the suspect.
Then, at around 8:30 p.m. another call came in reporting a robbery in the 1600 Block of 22nd Street West with a suspect description that matched the earlier report. Further information stated a man carrying a baseball bat approached a woman asking for money and her phone.
Shortly after, members of Patrol were able to locate a man that matched the description of the suspect; he did not comply with officer commands resulting in the deployment of a police service dog (PSD). As a result, the man received a minor injury consistent with a dog bite; he was treated by paramedics on scene but declined transport to the hospital.
The 27-year-old Saskatoon man was subsequently arrested and is facing multiple robbery - and weapons-related charges.
