A man is facing charges after police responded to a sexual assault over the weekend.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., February 3, 2024, police officers responded after a woman reported being the victim of a sexual assault in progress in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue. Upon arrival, police observed a man hiding in nearby bushes and confirmed him to be the suspect. When he was approached, he fled however was taken into custody a short distance away.

The victim and suspect are not believed to be known to each other.

The 28-year-old woman was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man is charged with Sexual Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault (Choking), and Obstruction. (Court Info # 991257970).
