Evade Police - K9/ASU Assist - 300 Block 103rd Street East

One man was arrested after attempting to evade police late Tuesday night.

Shortly before 12:00 a.m. on November 5, 2024, police located a Ford Ranger that was believed to have been stolen in October. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle evaded. The Saskatoon Police Air Support Unit (ASU) then began tracking the vehicle.

During this time, the vehicle was observed to be driving at high rates of speed and drove into oncoming traffic frequently. The truck stopped in the 300 Block of 103rd Street East. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival; however, police were able to establish a canine track.

With the assistance of the Canine Unit and ASU, the man was arrested without further incident a short while later. He was then taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a dog bite.

As a result, the 36-year-old man has been charged with failing to stop for police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and theft under $5000. He was also found to be breaching multiple court-ordered conditions.
