One youth male was arrested yesterday afternoon after bear spray was discharged inside a mall.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on November 28, 2024, police were called to a mall in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South for a report of bear spray being discharged in the food court. Upon arrival, officers encountered a youth male experiencing the direct effects of bear spray. Further investigation determined that this male may be in possession of bear spray; a search of his person located a canister concealed in his pocket.

As a result, the 13-year-old Saskatoon male was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.

Police are continuing to investigate this incident.
