One man has been arrested after a can of bear spray was pulled on a cab driver this morning.

At around 1:00 a.m. this morning, January 24, 2025, police were called to the 3700 block of Diefenbaker Drive for a report of a man breaking the windows on a cab. Upon arrival, officers learned that a cab driver had picked up a man and woman in the 800 block of Confederation Drive and driven them to the 4100 block of Diefenbaker Drive before the man produced a can of bear spray and confronted the cab driver with it. The cab driver was able to pull the can of bear spray away from the man at which point the man exited the cab and began breaking its windows with a metal object. The cab driver then fled to the 3700 block of Diefenbaker Drive to call police.

Continued investigation led police back to the 800 block of Confederation Drive where they effected the arrest of a 25-year-old Saskatoon man. As a result, he has been charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000 by wilful damage to property.
