Stolen Vehicle / Evade Police / Assault P.O. - 100 Block Sherry Crescent

One man has been arrested following an evade police incident with a stolen vehicle.

At around 12:00 a.m. on January 30, 2025, police received a report of a vehicle that had just been stolen from the 100 block of Sherry Crescent by an unknown person. Shortly after, a Staff Sergeant operating an unmarked police vehicle observed the stolen vehicle in the area of Kinloch Crescent. Prior to the officer activating their emergency equipment, the suspect accelerated towards the police vehicle at a high rate of speed in an attempt ram it; however, was unsuccessful in doing so. The suspect then erratically evaded police as the Air Support Unit took over communicating its movements to officers on the ground. Continuing to drive dangerously, the suspect unsuccessfully attempted to strike a Constable that was laying a tire deflation device before colliding with a tree in the 300 block of Pendygrasse Road and fleeing the scene. A police service dog (PSD) was then used to locate the suspect attempting to hide nearby; he received injuries consistent with a dog bite as a result.

The 25-year-old Saskatoon man has now been charged with theft of a vehicle, operating a vehicle while prohibited, operating a vehicle being pursued by police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and assault with a weapon (x2).
