Arrest - Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit Investigation - Nipawin

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Nipawin man with child exploitation related offences.

On March 25, 2026, the Saskatchewan ICE Unit executed a Search Warrant at a home in Nipawin. Electronic devices were examined at scene and also seized by investigators.

As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Douglas Elmer Ray Barks of Nipawin was arrested and charged on May 21, 2026 with the following:

  • Possessing Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material (x2)
  • Making Available Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material

Barks appeared in court on May 21, 2026 and was released with court-imposed conditions. His next court date is scheduled for July 22, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in Nipawin Provincial Court.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service and Saskatoon Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material.
