27 Year Old Male In Custody After Evading Police In A Stolen Auto

A 27 year old male is in custody after attempting to flee from police this evening. At approximately 6:40 pm, Saskatoon Police received a call about a suspicious truck in the Rusholme Road area. The vehicle was then spotted on 22nd Street, by officers who were en route to the area. Officers were able to follow the vehicle to the Kensington neighborhood where they then attempted to stop the vehicle. The lone male driver ignored the officer's demands and took off speeding into the Blairmore area. The suspect then abandoned the stolen truck and fled on foot, initially into the Shaw Centre, before running over the pedestrian overpass into the Pacific Heights neighborhood. Police converged into the area and the suspect was found and arrested while being in possession of a knife and bear spray. The male is facing charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, carry concealed weapons, weapons dangerous to the public, evade police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and breach of his probation order. He will go to court tomorrow morning to answer to the charges.
