Saskatoon's 6th Homicide Update

In consultation with the Saskatoon Police Major Crime Section, family members of the deceased have decided to release his name to the public.

His name is Gerald Grimard, 60 years of age.

A 15 year old male was charged with 1st degree murder in the death of Grimard. The next court appearance for the accused is scheduled for tomorrow, July 4th 2019.

Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section have charged a 15 year old male with 1st Degree Murder in the death of a 60 year old man.

It is believed that the incident was not random in nature and the victim and suspect were known to each other. The suspect has been in custody since yesterday evening and will see the Justice of the Peace later today.

Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy which is being conducted today

Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section are investigating the 6th homicide of the year. 

On Monday, June 24th, 2019 at approximately 8:00 pm, Saskatoon Police Service Patrol members along with Medavie Health Services responded to an injured male in the 600 block of Hopkins Street.  Upon arrival, they located a 60 year old deceased male. 

Members from the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Section, with assistance from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, began their investigation.  It has since been determined to be a homicide and investigators currently have a male youth in custody. The investigation continues.
