Two people were arrested last night with the help of ASU, after refusing to stop for Police.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., August 8, 2019, Patrol officers observed a grey 2006 Honda Civic at the intersection of 33rd Street West and Avenue D North. The car had been reported stolen the previous day. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and began driving erratically. The Air Support Unit (ASU) began monitoring the suspect vehicle and observed it park in the driveway of a residence in the 900 block of Avenue U North. ASU members observed two people exit the vehicle, place a barbeque in front of the car’s licence plate, and attempt to hide in backyards. In communication with ASU, Patrol officers located and arrested the female passenger and male driver in separate backyards.

The driver, a 54 year old Saskatoon man, is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evade Police and Breach of Probation. He was also charged for the earlier theft of the vehicle.

The passenger, a 46 year old Saskatoon woman, was arrested on seven outstanding warrants from SPS and Turtleford RCMP.
