Dangerous Driving/Impaired Driving - Evade Police - 300 Block Packham Ave.

A 26 year old man is facing numerous charges following an incident in which a driver fleeing a domestic assault evaded police.

At approximately 2:40 a.m., August 16, 2019, Police were called to a report of a domestic assault in the 300 block of Packham Ave. The caller reported that the male suspect involved had fled the scene in a grey Ford Escape. While responding to the call Patrol officers spotted the vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner in the northbound lanes of Circle Drive. The officers turned around and began to follow the vehicle, making attempts to conduct a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and continued to evade police while traveling through the North Industrial area. Officers were successful in partially disabling the vehicle with a tire deflation device however the driver continued to travel, making his way to the east side of the city on Circle Drive, travelling at low speeds on rims. Another tire deflation device was utilized and was successful in disabling the other tires, however the driver continued to make his way into downtown Saskatoon before turning onto Ontario Avenue at 25th Street. The driver then exited the vehicle while talking on a cell phone and refusing to comply with officer's instructions. The male was in an agitated state and still refusing to comply when officer deployed a CEW and were able to take the man into custody.

The 26 year old man is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Impaired Driving, Assault and Take Vehicle Without Owners Consent. A 34 year old woman was located at the initial address and found to be suffering from minor physical injuries.

The incident will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
