Charges Laid In City's 11th Homicide For 2019

Saskatoon Police Major Crimes have charged a 17 year old male with 2nd degree murder, as a result of police having been called to the 3800 block of Fairlight Drive on Sunday morning, August 25th, at 5:10 am regarding an injured 22 year old male. This victim was transported to hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators from the Saskatoon Police Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Services were called out. The 17 year old suspect was arrested and taken into custody, not long after. He will be in court this morning at 9:30 am. to answer to the charge.

At 5:10 am this morning, August 25th 2019, Saskatoon Police received a 911 call regarding an injured male in the 3800 block of Fairlight Drive.  Police and Medavie services responded and the 22 year old victim was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.  SPS Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Services were called out and continued the investigation along with the assistance from Patrol.

A 17 year old male suspect has been arrested and is in police custody.  Police believe the victim and suspect were known to each other.  Police are investigating this as a homicide.

This is the 11th recorded homicide for Saskatoon in 2019.
